In order to participate in educating the nation’s life, the Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University is making efforts to open new study programs. In particular, to open the Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Study Programs, a Decree of the Chancellor of Diponegoro University was issued Number: 144\/SK\/PT09.3\/1981, dated December 19, 1981, regarding the Formation of a Feasibility Study Team for the Possibility of Opening a New Study Program.<\/p>\n

This team is chaired by Ir. Marwoto Kusumopradono and Person in Charge Ir. Joetata Hadihardaja as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University. The Feasibility Study Team conducted a comparative study to UGM Yogyakarta in January 1982; to ITB Bandung in March 1982, and in April 1982. In addition, the Feasibility Study Team also made visits to government agencies in the Municipality of Semarang, including Pemda Dati I, PLN, and BKPMD.<\/p>\n

Based on the results of the Study Team’s work, the Chancellor of Diponegoro University issued Decree No. 158\/SK\/PT09\/1982, dated December 6, 1982, concerning the Opening of the Undergraduate Study Program (S-1) in Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Based on the decree, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University adopted a policy that in order to accept new students for the 1983\/1984 academic year, the Electrical Engineering Study Program was under the Mathematics Department and the Mechanical Engineering Study Program was under the Chemical Engineering Department.<\/p>\n

In the 1985\/1986 academic year the Electrical Engineering Study Program accepted new students under the Mechanical Engineering Study Program. Starting in the 1986\/1987 academic year, the Electrical Engineering Study Program became a Study Program in the Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University in full according to the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 47\/DIKTI\/Kep\/1986 dated 26 December 1986. The decree is retroactively valid that the Electrical Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University was officially established starting in the 1983\/1984 academic year.<\/p>\n

Since its inception until 1997, Undip Electrical Engineering occupied one of the rooms of the Undip Faculty of Engineering building on Jl. Hayamuruk 5-7 Semarang. The first laboratory is a 3\u00d76 meter room belonging to Undip Civil Engineering on Jl. Dr. Sutomo, Kalisari Semarang (behind the Kalisari field). The lecture hall uses the Architect, Civil and Chemical Engineering rooms which are located on Jl. Hayamwuruk and Jl. Mataram (now a Mataram shophouse). The first lecturer of the Electrical Engineering Study Program was Ir. Sulasno. As time went on, Undip Electrical Engineering developed by getting lecture rooms and weak current laboratories in the Central Java Government aid building on Jl. Hayamwuruk, while the strong current laboratory uses the building behind the Diponegoro mosque. Lecturer staff also increased with the presence of Ir. Ngatelan, Ir. Yuningtyastuti, Ir. Sudjadi and others.<\/p>\n

Hayamwuruk Pleburan Campus<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n

In 1998, Undip Electrical Engineering moved to the Tembalang campus, about 10 km south of the old campus. On the new Undip campus with an area of 350ha, Electrical Engineering occupies part of the Undip Faculty of Engineering, with two main buildings with three floors, namely building A and building B. Buildings are used for lecturer rooms, administrative rooms, and libraries, while building B is used for lecture halls, laboratories, and student activity rooms. On January 24 2014, through Mandate Letter Number 66\/E.E2\/DT\/2014<\/a>, the Director General of Higher Education gave a mandate to the Electrical Engineering Department of UNDIP to establish an Electrical Engineering Masters Program. The Electrical Engineering Department of UNDIP received a permit to organize the Electrical Engineering Masters Program on May 7 2014 through the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 70\/E\/O\/2014<\/a>, So that starting even semester 2013\/2014 the Electrical Engineering Department accepted new students for the Electrical Engineering Masters Program . Unlike the Undergraduate Program, the Electrical Engineering Masters Program accepts new students every semester. The head of the first Electrical Engineering Masters Program was Dr. Ir. Hermawan, DEA and the Secretary for the Masters Program is Mohammad Facta, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. Starting in 2014, there are two Study Programs under the Department of Electrical Engineering, namely the Undergraduate Program and the Masters Program. The Undergraduate Program Manager is concurrently the Head and Secretary of the Department of Electrical Engineering.<\/p>\n

Tembalang Campus in 1998 until now<\/p>\n

State Higher Education \u2013 Legal Entity (PTN-BH)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Starting in January 2017 the status of UNDIP changed to State University \u2013 Legal Entity (PTN-BH) and there were changes to the Work Procedure Organizational Structure (SOTK) and nomenclature. The name of the Department changed to the Department, so that the Department of Electrical Engineering has 2 Study Programs, namely the Undergraduate Program (S-1) and the Masters Program (S-2). The first Chairman and Secretary of the Department of Electrical Engineering was Dr. Wahyudi, S.T., M.T. and Achmad Hidayatno, S.T., M.T..
