Semarang, August 31, 2024- The Department of Electrical Engineering of Diponegoro University (Undip) successfully held the Electro Tech Summer Institute (ETSI) 2024 for one week. This program was attended by participants from various institutions, such as Universiti Teknologi MARA, Multimedia University, and the University of Nottingham Malaysia, showing the commitment of Undip’s Electrical Engineering Department to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The ETSI 2024 Summer Course program aims to integrate the SDGs in electrical and computer engineering, two important disciplines in facing global challenges such as the provision of affordable clean energy, industrial innovation, and infrastructure development. Participants gain in-depth insight into the contribution of electrical and computer engineering expertise to sustainable solutions, both during their studies and in their professional careers.

The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Jamari, expressed his gratitude to all those who supported the success of this program, emphasizing the importance of the spirit of international collaboration in facing global challenges. Meanwhile, the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Aghus Sofwan, Ph.D., gave his appreciation to the lecturers and participants, hoping that the knowledge gained could be optimally applied in various fields.

ETSI 2024 Summer Course activities include a visit to the Education and Training Implementation Unit (UPDL) of PLN Semarang, which provides direct insight to participants regarding PLN’s important role in supporting sustainable energy infrastructure. In addition, participants attended a lecture from Prof. Bulan Prabawani on Undip’s role in advancing SDGs, as well as two sessions from Prof. Nooritawati Md Tahir on writing high-quality manuscripts and utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.

Participants also visited Undip’s CBIOM3S Laboratory to see various research and innovations in the biomedical field. In addition to academic activities, this program also provides opportunities for participants to get to know the culture of Semarang and Yogyakarta, broaden their horizons, and build networks with students from various countries.

At the closing of the ETSI 2024 Summer Course, Eko Handoyo, ST., M.T., as the Chairperson of the Committee, said that this program is Undip’s concrete effort in supporting SDGs, emphasizing that innovation in the field of electrical engineering can play an important role in achieving sustainable development goals. The success of this program cannot be separated from the full support of the entire Undip academic community and the active participation of participants. This program succeeded in creating a dynamic and interactive learning environment, encouraging participants to become agents of change in supporting sustainable development in their respective countries. By organizing events such as the ETSI 2024 Summer Course, Undip plays an active role in shaping innovative and globally responsible future leaders.
