Electrical Engineering Diponegoro University (Undip) celebrated its 8th Lustrum with one of its special events, Visiting Professor, which was held on October 24, 2023. This event raised the theme “The Potential of New and Renewable Energy in Supporting the Transition to Green Energy.” Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Muhamad Haddin, MT, an Undip Electrical Engineering alumni who graduated in 1991, was the keynote speaker at this event.

In his presentation entitled “The Potential of Renewable Energy in Supporting the Transition to Green Energy,” Prof. Haddin discussed a variety of relevant topics, such as the legal basis of energy and electricity planning, energy regulations, and government policies in the electricity sector. He also discussed the importance of developing new and renewable energy plants as the implementation of the 2021-2030 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) and the potential of these new energy plants according to the results of the initial study. Five key principles in support of Net Zero Emission were also the focus of his presentation. Prof. Haddin also reviewed the sources of energy emissions and the utilization of new and renewable energy, as well as Indonesia’s 2050 vision in terms of green energy. He also discussed the challenges in accelerating the new and renewable energy development process and the need for support for a cleaner energy transition. In addition, the investment characteristics of electricity infrastructure, the concept of electricity production that should be in line with consumption, as well as load and generation characteristics were also an important part of Prof. Haddin’s presentation.

This event provided a better understanding of important issues in the electricity sector and its important contribution in realizing clean and sustainable energy. Undip Electrical Engineering is committed to continue to support the development of knowledge and understanding in this area and thanks Prof. Haddin for his contribution to this event.
