Brian Fari Firmansyah, an Electrical Engineering student at Diponegoro University (Undip), has once again innovated by developing a Digital Waste Bank Administration System Website. This project, accessible via sidomakmur.vercel.app, serves as a solution to the manual administrative issues that have long been a challenge for waste banks. This innovation aligns with the Semarang City Government’s initiative to actively promote waste banks as part of sustainable environmental management efforts. The project was launched on Sunday, August 10, 2025.

Until now, transaction recording and customer data management at waste banks have been conducted conventionally using books or forms. This process is prone to errors, data loss, and is time-consuming. The website developed by Brian aims to transform this process into a more efficient and accurate one.

This digital system enables the management of customer data, recording of waste deposits and withdrawals, and automatic calculation of balances. The main features implemented include:

  • Customer Data Management: A feature for registering and managing waste bank customer data, including their transaction history.
  • Transaction Recording: Allows waste bank staff to digitally record every deposit and withdrawal of waste.
  • Reports and Analysis: Provides real-time reports on the amount of waste collected, economic value, and customer activity.

This website was designed using a combination of modern technologies. To build a fast and interactive user interface, Brian used React as a JavaScript library, with Vite JS as a bundler to speed up the development process.

Meanwhile, for the backend and database, the project utilizes Google Firebase. Firebase is used as a real-time database that facilitates the storage and synchronization of customer data and transactions instantly, without the need for complex server configuration.

This project is expected not only to streamline the work of waste bank staff but also to encourage community participation in recycling programs. “With this digital system, we hope the Waste Bank in Semarang can operate more professionally and serve as a model for other regions,” said Brian. “This is our small contribution to creating a cleaner and more sustainable city, in line with the mayor’s vision.”
