Semarang City has been selected as one of 100 global cities to be assessed for resilience, included in the Global Resilient City Network (GRCN). The 2024 program will focus on the city’s energy resilience. The Department of Electrical Engineering and the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at Diponegoro University have been given the valuable opportunity to research the energy resilience of the city of Semarang. Both departments joined a team called CURE (Center for Urban and Regional Resilience Research). In this activity, the CURE team collaborated with various agencies, including the Semarang City Bappeda, the Human Resources Agency, PT PLN (Persero), PT Pertamina, and offices under the Mayor of Semarang. The kick-off meeting for the city resilience study was held on May 21, 2024 at the Office off the Regional Development Planning Agency, Semarang City. The meeting was attended by Diponegoro University team and related agencies and stakeholders.

The meeting was opened by Muhammad Luthfi, Head of Economic Planning Division, Regional Development Planning Agency, Semarang City. At the meeting, the framework of the work program was presented by the Co-Project Manager, who is also a lecturer of Undip Electrical Engineering, Ir. Denis, S.T., M.Eng., IPM., ASEAN Eng., along with other lecturers from Electrical Engineering, namely Ir. Aghus Sofwan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPU, Ir. Mochammad Facta, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., and Dr. Ir. Jaka Windarta, M.T., IPU., ASEAN Eng., as well as Urban and Regional Planning lecturer namely Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wiwandari Handayani, and Bintang Septiarani, S.T., M.T.. Representative from GRCN Singapore, Nini Purwajati, also explained the program framework. The program is scheduled to run until the end of 2024, with the aim of strengthening Semarang’s energy resilience in the face of future challenges.
