The Department of Electrical Engineering at Diponegoro University once again held the Visiting Professor Batch 3 Chapter Series 5 event as part of a series of international collaboration programs that bring together academics from around the world with the academic community at UNDIP. The event was held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, in Room B203, Building B, Electrical Engineering Department, Diponegoro University.

This session featured Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uthayakumar Sowmmiya from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, India as the keynote speaker with the topic “Benefits of AI & IoT in Power System Technology.” In his presentation, Dr. Sowmmiya explained how the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) can bring significant changes in the field of power system technology. This technology enables power systems to become more efficient, reliable, and intelligent through the application of real-time monitoring, load prediction, and adaptive energy management to meet the dynamic needs of users.

The event was moderated by Dr. Susatyo Handoko, S.T., M.T. from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University. In an interactive discussion, participants were invited to understand how the application of AI and IoT not only improves power system performance but also opens up new research and innovation opportunities in the fields of smart grids, renewable energy, and data-based power management.

This Visiting Professor Batch 3 activity is a concrete manifestation of the Department of Electrical Engineering at UNDIP’s commitment to providing internationally standardized education and expanding global academic networks. Through this fifth series, students and faculty members gained inspiration.
