Diponegoro University (UNDIP) student team won the Gold Medal Award and Macao Special Award in the prestigious Kaohsiung International Invention & Design EXPO (KIDE) 2024. The competition took place on December 5-7, 2024 at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center, Taiwan. The UNDIP team consisting of Mutiara Tabitha Kamal (Chemical Engineering), Evan Cahya Putra (Mechanical Engineering), Muhammad Ahsan Fillah Abadi (Electrical Engineering), and Riezky Ramadhan (Electrical Engineering) successfully won awards with their innovation, SUNNECT: Smart Water Purification Technology Powered by Solar Panel and Integrated with Internet of Things (IoT).
SUNNECT is an intelligent water purification technology designed to offer efficient and environmentally friendly water purification solutions. This innovation utilizes solar energy as the main source and is equipped with an Internet of Things (IoT) system for real-time management and monitoring. With this technology, the water purification process can be carried out more effectively and measurably, making it a relevant solution for communities that need access to clean water.
The Gold Medal Award and Macao Special Award achieved by the UNDIP team is a proud achievement. This achievement shows that innovative products from Indonesian students are able to compete internationally. “With this award, we can prove that the products developed by Indonesian students are able to compete at the international level,” said Riezky Ramadhan, one of the team members from the Electrical Engineering Department. He also added, “We hope this achievement can be a trigger for other students to continue to innovate, develop creative ideas, and produce technological solutions that benefit the global community.”
This achievement is expected to encourage more students to participate in international events and utilize their knowledge and skills to create innovations that have a broad impact. The success of the UNDIP team at the KIDE 2024 event is clear evidence that cross-disciplinary collaboration, namely between students of Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, is able to produce relevant and useful solutions.
