The Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University (UNDIP) invites Assoc. Prof. Dr. Awais Mahmood from the College of Applied Computer Science (CACS), King Saud University, Saudi Arabia, as a Visiting Professor for an event titled “Digital Transformation in Healthcare: The Role of Signal Processing and Machine Learning”. The program will take place from July 29 to August 1, 2025, at the Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University, Semarang.

The series of activities will begin on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, with an official welcome ceremony and a meeting with the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the Dean’s Office. On the same day, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Awais Mahmood also delivered an International Public Lecture on “Digital Transformation in Healthcare: The Role of Signal Processing and Machine Learning” at the Faculty of Engineering Auditorium, followed by an initial discussion on potential research collaboration at the Department of Electrical Engineering Office.

Activities continued on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, with Workshop Session 1 discussing Machine Learning & Signal Processing for Smart Systems at the UNDIP Faculty of Engineering Auditorium. In the afternoon, a Curriculum Discussion was held on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital health topics in the Faculty of Engineering Senate Room.

On Thursday, July 31, 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Awais Mahmood will be the speaker at Workshop Session 2 on Data Analysis & Case Study on Medical Signal Processing at the Computer Laboratory of the Faculty of Engineering. Following that, the activity will continue with a Scientific Article Writing Clinic for young faculty members and graduate students, held in the Discussion Room.

The agenda on Friday, August 1, 2025, focused on a Discussion for Journal Publication held in the Discussion Room. In the afternoon, Dr. Awais Mahmood had the opportunity to participate in a cultural visit or City Tour to several iconic destinations in Semarang City, including Lawang Sewu, Sam Poo Kong, and the Old Town area.

The Head of the Electrical Engineering Department at UNDIP, Ir. Aghus Sofwan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPU, stated that the presence of the Visiting Professor is a strategic step in enriching the academic knowledge of students and faculty members, expanding international research networks, and strengthening the integration of topics such as artificial intelligence, signal processing, and digital health into the curriculum.

Through these events, the Electrical Engineering Department at Diponegoro University reaffirms its commitment to driving digital transformation in the healthcare sector through research, education, and global collaboration.
