Electrical Engineering students from the University of Diponegoro (UNDIP) have once again achieved a proud accomplishment at the national level through the 18th National Student Exhibition in the Field of Information and Communication Technology (GEMASTIK) in 2025. At the event organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology in collaboration with Telkom University as the host, UNDIP won the Runner-up Award in Division VI Smart City, a historic achievement as it was the first time UNDIP won an award in that division.
This achievement was attained by the SEMARAK Team from the Department of Electrical Engineering, comprising Ja’far Omar Siddiq (Team Leader), Dhafin Putra Madryana, and Hasna Fadhilah Aulia, all of whom are Electrical Engineering students from the 2023 cohort. They presented the SEMARAK (Semarang Smart Traffic Control) innovation, an integrated smart traffic management system specifically designed for the city of Semarang. SEMARAK is built on three main pillars, namely Smart Governance, which implements digital law enforcement based on artificial intelligence and blockchain; Smart Environment, in the form of solar-powered infrastructure and pollution monitoring systems; and Smart Mobility, which utilizes the Internet of Things (IoT) for real-time traffic density mapping and accident detection.
In her statement, Hasna Fadhilah Aulia expressed her gratitude and pride for this achievement. “I didn’t expect it and am very grateful because the competition process took a long time with various stages ranging from the selection of finalists, legalities, to the final stage and the announcement of the championship. We from the SEMARAK Team are very grateful to our advisor, Mr. Eko Handoyo, S.T., M.T., who has guided, helped, and supported our team,” she said.
This success marks an important milestone for UNDIP in the GEMASTIK competition and opens up broader opportunities for students to continue innovating and contributing to the development of technology-based solutions for society.
